Acer to unleash a 4.8 inch Android powered Tablet cum smartphone in April 2011
Acer has come up with a master plan to get an upper hand in the extremely competitive Android smartphone/Tablet market. How? The top ranked PC makers have come up with an idea of a smartphone that is a tablet as well. The dual nature gadget which is yet to receive a name is expected to go live in some part of April 2011.
Here is what you can expect from the hardware side of things:
- 4.8 inch touch screen
- 8 MP rear facing camera with LED Flash.
- 2 MP front facing camera.
- 1024 x 480 resolution with a display ratio of 21:9
One thing which is of particular interest to me is the processor speed which for some frigging reason is missing from the PR. Another interesting thing to note here is that no one knows which Android firmware will it run on – Gingerbread or Honeycomb.
So what’s my take on this? My initial impression is that it is an attempt by Acer to build hype for the device which may not be worth all the attention. After all, 4.8 inch screen doesn’t do justice to a Tablet does it?
