A few hours back, we informed you about the possibility of Droid getting Android 2.1 via the upcoming update. Motorola has just confirmed everyone that the update is indeed coming and is one that users of Motorola’s highly advertised product have been waiting for – Android 2.1. Again the social media, infact world’s largest social network, Facebook becomes the source of this significant news.

This significant bit of news was shared by Motorola via its official Facebook page, once again highlighting the benefit you get by keeping yourself part in the social network ring. It turns out that Motorola is not planning Android 2.1 update for Motorola Droid only, other devices are expected to get it a bit later. This is what the Facebook page says:

Happy to relay the 2.1 upgrade to Droid will start to roll out this week, will have more information to share on other device upgrades later.

I am guessing by other devices it means Motorola Cliq and other as speculated previously. But it’s just a guess on my side. Sadly Motorola didn’t unveil any specific details as to what will the update bring. But that’s something we will find out pretty soon.
