So you thought that Anonymous, the group which stood behind Wikileaks and took down sites that stopped offering its services for the whistleblower would sit and do nothing regarding the ongoing anti-government protest in Egypt? It’s time to update your information as the Anonymous Gang have accepted the responsibility of taking down Egypt’s Government websites.

Gregg Housh, a member of the group who denies taking part in this whole process revealed that Anonymous took down the sites of the Ministry of Information and President Hosni Mubarak with the help of 500 supporters and supporting software tools.

Housh revealed that the online community has become fed up of the oppressive style of the going down government :

the group had used its technical knowledge to help protesters in Egypt defy a government shutdown of the Internet that began last week. “We want freedom,” he said of the group’s motivation. “It’s as simple as that. We’re sick of oppressive governments encroaching on people.”
