App Store download count goes past the impressive 3 billion mark
Apple’s App Store just keeps on reaching new milestones. Apple has announced that the apps for iPhone and iPod Touch have been downloaded more than 3 billion times from the App Store. All of this points to one thing – App Store is one of the hottest thing there is in the ever competitive mobile phone market. Everyone’s favorite CEO Steve Jobs was quite vocal about this achievement and shared the thought of App Store facing no competition from other platforms. Based on the current and previous impressive achievements such as the presence of more than 100,000 apps, no one can disagree with Jobs belief.
Steve Jobs said
Three billion applications downloaded in less than 18 months—this is like nothing we’ve ever seen before. The revolutionary App Store offers iPhone and iPod touch users an experience unlike anything else available on other mobile devices, and we see no signs of the competition catching up anytime soon.
iPhone and iPod touch customers in 77 countries worldwide can choose from an incredible range of apps in 20 categories, including games, business, news, sports, health, reference and travel.
Android will have a tough task in leaving Apple behind but that doesn’t in any way mean Android can’t do it, or does it.
