If you watched the Chrome OS event which is currently going on as I write, Google unveiled a black colored notebook which they are calling it Cr-48 (Cr for Chromium). The notebook didn’t have any branding on it and it won’t be up for sale. The notebook will be used in the Chrome OS pilot program which is the Beta testing program for Chrome OS. But what we can borrow from this notebook is the specs that the Chrome OS notebook will possibly have when they are ready for prime time, expectedly in the first half of 2011.

Chrome notebook specs

The notable specs of the notebook are:

  • 12.1 inch screen.
  • World mode 3G to make sure you always stay connected.
  • WiFi
  • Web cam.
  • No optical drives.
  • Offers 8+ hours battery life.
  • Full Size keyboard without Capslock.

Okay so the screen size is fine. The world mode 3G part of the notebook supports Google’s vision of always staying connected.

And Yes, don’t expect Chrome OS to go live today as Google needs to fine tune some areas of the notebook. The other notable announcement coming out of the event is of course the unveiling of Chrome Web Store.

Based on what we saw from the event, we are in love with the Chrome OS and will be covering it in greater detail. To make sure you are updated with the Chrome OS side of things, you might consider following us on Facebook, Twitter or subscribing to our RSS Feed.
