A few minutes back, we informed you about the just released Google Maps for Android 3.3. The just released update for the Google Maps app brings with it interesting enhancements such as the nearby business feature, introduction of Google Labs for the Google Maps app and report problems associated with map data right from your phone. In this post we will tell you all there is to know about the very cool nearby business feature.

Here is the official description of this feature :

If you’re visiting an unfamiliar place, you can now easily see what businesses are nearby.

How to use the nearby business feature

  1. Long-press on the map.
  2. Tap on the bubble.
  3. Look for What’s nearby? in the menu. The menu item shows a nearby business, and you can click on it to see more nearby places.

You can also access this feature from the My Location menu or from address search results.

This feature comes in handy when you’re meeting friends. It lets you find the nearest shops, cafes, or other places to get out of the cold. The timing of this feature couldn’t have been better with the holiday season around the corner. So you are sure to go out with your loved ones for lunch, dinner, coffee or whatever, and having the power of this feature will make your holidays even more comfortable.

I just had this question in my mind which is , Is there a way to record information about a newly opened business right from your phone?
