Sources report that  Facebook and AOL have entered into a partnership based on which Facebook chat will be integrated into AOL’ s instant messenger, AIM. Besides getting integrated into the AOL’s messaging platform, Facebook’s instant messaging feature becomes part of AOL’s Lifestream feature.

Just to remind you or enlighten you, Lifestream is a service provided by AOL which allows you to post, view and share status updates with your AIM contacts along with your contacts from popular network such as Digg, Twitter and now Facebook.

This partnership comes into the picture at a pretty interesting time. Interesting because very recently, the most popular social network with more than 400 million members went above AOL and secured third spot in web traffic race.

With this agreement, AOL becomes the first IM service to become integrated with Facebook Chat. Ethan Beard, Facebook’s director of platform marketing said regarding this partnership:

In today’s online environment, you can’t be competitive without being open and allowing partners, developers and consumers to leverage your technology
