We saw many users on Facebook hankering for a ‘dislike button’ similar to ‘like button’, but unfortunately instead of Facebook developers, their voices were heard by some shaky scammers.

Facebook dislike button

A new scam of ‘dislike button’ has been introduced on Facebook by some new unknown scammers, the scam has already affected many Facebook user profiles by misguiding them to enter a unique JavaScript code into their browser’s address bar.

We all should be thankful to Sophos ‘An IT Security Firm’ for revealing this virulent scam, the firm has warned users to avoid clicking on the link displayed below:

The above image shows, how these scammers have altered the ‘Share button’ into ‘Enable Dislike Button’. And this replacing of buttons misleads a simple user on Facebook to believe it as a legitimate feature.

Clicking the fake scam link will not only run sophisticated JavaScript on the computers, but will also display the same fake message of ‘enabling dislike button’ to Facebook friends by appearing over user’s profile.

See in the image below, how ‘Dislike Button’ takes user to a new page that misguides user to copy and paste the JavaScript code into the address bar:

Facebook has introduced security features to restrict unauthorized access of spammers to user accounts, but the company doesn’t seem to be reacting on the recent spreading ‘dislike button’ scams, as they have not yet provided any guidelines or warnings on how to get secure from this hoax.

We hope that Facebook will do something about the ‘Dislike Button’ soon, and we believe it will also provide us with a safety and security tool, in order to prevent us from the future security threats.
