Facebook has announced the launch of a new feature known as “status tagging” which we discussed previously. This enables users to tag friends, pages, groups and events in status updates and is similar to how mentions @twitter work.
It has a simple method: all you have to do is when you are using the publisher to update your status, you press the ‘@’ key on the keyboard and a dropdown menu appears from where you can tag any friend, page, event or group.
When someone is tagged, their name is automatically linked and your post also appears on their wall enabling them to remove the tag from your wall, thus an engaging feature and powerful way to have your friends and connections on your status updates.
This new feature which has enabled users to not only tag friends but othe connections as well means that it has provided another medium for page managers to track comments and feedback about their merchandises.
Before this, Facebook‘s new real time search was being used by page managers to keep a track of the feedback and comments that they get about their brands. However, with “Status Tagging” they will be able to get insight about their brands as any @ taggings would appear on their page even without the user having visited their page. This surely saves up time for page administrators and provides them more useful insight about the perception that their brand holds.
