Facebook Lite laid down on the death bed
Facebook has decided to shut down the lighter version of its social network more commonly known as Facebook Lite. This news was revealed by the social network giants on their Fan page. As you would have realized it, no explanation was given behind this move.May be just may be, they were spending too many resources on the stripped down version which wasn’t giving a lot in return.
This makes it an early exit for Facebook Lite which was launched back in September 2009 with the primary intent of reducing clutter seen by some and to save the bandwidth for the mobile users. Here is the announcement Facebook official style:
Thanks to everyone who tried out Facebook Lite. We’re no longer supporting it, but learned a lot from the test of a slimmed-down site.
The line which says learned a lot suggests to me that some hard lessons were learned. If you navigate to lite.facebook.com, you will be redirected back to the regular content filled Facebook page. This move from where I see won’t hurt the largest of them all one bit. Am I right in saying that?
