Facebook Introduces Subscribe Button To Let You See Anyone’s Public Posts
Facebook has now unveiled a new Subscribe button for it’s users that lets them see the publicly updated posts of anyone (whether friend or not) in their News Feeds.
Until today, you didn’t have the option to select exactly what type of updates you want to see from your friends and others in your News Feed, for example if you only wish to see the status updates of a particular friend and want to ignore the updates of photos and videos he or she uploaded, then you can easily do it now by using the Subscribe button.
This new Facebook feature has also given you an opportunity to see and subscribe to the updates of the famous people (not in your friends list) you personally like, i.e. journalists, artists and political figures etc.
Facebook on its official blog has stated:
With the Subscribe button, we’re making it easier to do both. In the next few days, you’ll start seeing this button on friends’ and others’ profiles. You can use it to:
- Choose what you see from people in News Feed
- Hear from people, even if you’re not friends
- Let people hear from you, even if you’re not friends
The Subscribe button feature also lets you choose how much updates you want to see from a particular friend. So now you can select any of the following for your subscriptions:
-
All updates: Everything your friend posts
-
Most updates: The amount you’d normally see
-
Important updates only: Just highlights, like a new job or move
Beside following users’ updates with this new feature, you can also allow other people on Facebook to subscribe to your posts, you can easily do this by going to this Facebook Subscriptions Page and clicking Allow Subscribers.
Note: Subscribers who are not in your friends list will only be able to see your Public posts.
Once you have done this, you will able to manage your Subscribers settings by clicking the Edit settings button placed inside your Subscribers Tab on your profile.
Starting from today, users will begin seeing this new Subscribe button on friends and other Facebook profiles. If you want to check this feature right now, then you can subscribe to my updates by visiting my Facebook profile.
So do you like this new Subscribe button introduced by Facebook or do you think that it will be an ‘open door’ to new privacy issues? Please share your views with us in the comment box below.
