Facebook, in what seems to be a bizarre and strange move (at first), has started showing their valuable user’s email address in plain text format. If you follow Facebook closely, you would be aware of the fact, that the largest social network with more than 350 million users worldwide, for a long time has used the image version of email addresses in order to ensure that the evil doers are unable to scrape or get hold of email address. You must be wondering why has this decision been taken now. A Facebook spokesperson explains the reason which you can read after the jump.

One reason which I can think of is providing users the ease to copy email addresses and start networking. Here is social network’s stand on this move:

Showing email addresses in plain text makes it easier for people to use the information to connect with their friends.  We’ve improved our tools for detecting and preventing profile scraping over the last few years such that this additional precaution is no longer necessary.

So, where do you stand on this matter? We are pretty much interested in getting your viewpoint regarding this move by your very own social network
