FaceTime video calls won’t cost you minutes
FaceTime is one of those iPhone 4 features that has had the whole iPhone nation excited. One thing that has created doubts about the video chat feature was – will it use the carrier minutes when initiated from a voice call. Silicon Alley Insider got the answer from the Apple representative which is discussed after the jump.
As some of you might have guessed it, the video call won’t cost you a penny since it uses the WiFi network. According to Apple:
The voice call ends as soon as the FaceTime call connects. The FaceTime call is over Wi-Fi so does not use carrier minutes.
The whole scenario is likely to change when the FaceTime will be used over the 3G network. iPhone 4, the gadget which was announced at the WWDC 10 will go live on 24th June. Those who pre-ordered the phones have already received the shipment notifications and will be getting their hands on the slimmest smartphone on 23rd June.
