Gevey brings a SIM hack to unlock iPhone 4
MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev Team has pointed our attention to a lengthy but interesting write-up. I say interesting because the article has what you have been waiting for a long long time – unlock for iPhone 4.
Geevey has unleashed a SIM hack which can also be described as a SIM interposer. The Gevey device performs the unlock magic by activating the baseband using the emergency dialer. The good thing about this hack is that it works with all baseband/firmwares which also includes iOS 4.3. iPhone 4 users with baseband 03.10.01 and 02.10.04 will be the ones that will be most interested in it who were disappointed last week by the news of iPhone Dev Team indefinitely delaying ultrasn0w for iPhone 4.
Here are the risks that the SIM interposer approach brings:
- Unethical/illegal use of 112 in countries where it is an emergency number.
- Your telecom operator may catch you and terminate your account.
- An iOS update can patch the exploit.
Going for Geevey’s SIM interposer will cost you $50. The question is will you go for it?
