How to: Get Google Maps Navigation on your T-Mobile G1

It has been a while since Google announced the cool Google Maps navigation feature. Google launched Google Maps Navigation to run on Android 2.0. But that is no longer the case. Listed below are the pre-requisites alongwith the essential steps to bring Google Maps Navigation to your T-Mobile G1 device.
Pre-Requisites
Please ensure that T-Mobile G1 fulfills the following requirements:
- T-Mobile G1 is rooted.
- Has CyanogenMod 4.2.3.1.
- Navigation.zip file.
Download the Navigation.zip file here
Steps to port Google Maps Navigation to T-Mobile G1
- Unzip zip to desktop
- Run Part 1.bat
- When prompted to press any key, do so; the phone will reboot
- When your phone is running again, run Part 2.bat
- When prompted to press any key, the installation process is done.
- Make sure GPS is enabled
- Open Maps and press OK
- Press Menu
- Press Directions
- Enter an end point
- Click Go
- Just under “Show on map”, click Navigate.
- When prompted to install the voice codec, do so.
Voila, you just ported Google Maps Navigation onto your very own T-Mobile G1.
