The title of the post doesn’t paint a pretty picture does it, particularly if you own a HTC Desire? Engadget reports that Telstra, the Australian carrier of HTC Desire plans on rolling out a Gingerbread update that will be free of HTC’s innovative custom UI, HTC Sense.

HTC Desire Android 2.3

As evident from the above image, the reason behind the exclusion of HTC Sense UI is due to Gingerbread’s increased memory requirements. Bear in mind that this exclusion is carrier specific and other telecom providers may go for a different strategy to deal with the memory hungry Android 2.3 update.

To sum it all up, only the HTC Desire owners down under will be treated to an original Android experience. The question is are you willing to give away HTC Sense for the Gingerbread update? Sound off in the comments section
