HTC HD2 jailbreaks PlayStation 3

The topic of smartphones jailbreaking PlayStation 3 just keeps getting better and better. First it was HTC Desire and Nexus One doing the trick followed by iPhone and iPod Touch and now HTC HD2 has been added to the growing list. Yes folks, that’s right the highly successful Windows Mobile 6.5 powered has managed to get root access to PS3 to add to the woes of Sony. Video demo and installation instructions follow after the jump.
It turns out that HTC HD2 needs to be running on a special Android version to jailbreak PlayStation 3. Instructions to achieve the jailbreak are as follows:
- Extract the Android folder on the root of your SD card.
- Run CLRCAD.exe and haret.exe in the Android folder on your HD2. Boot the build until at home screen, ensure screen remains on.
- Plug in the HD2 USB cable in to the Playstation 3 whilst the Playstation is turned off from mains.
- Turn Playstation 3 mains power on.
- Press the Power button on the Playstation then the Eject button as soon as the Power has been turned on.
- And that should be it
- Copy the backup-manager to an USB-stick and connect it to the PS3
- Install the backup-manager in the “game” menu
