IE8 bundles with OneRiot search
Yesterday, it was all Bing, the latest search sensation from Microsoft. But besides that Microsoft also announced and released a standalone product which is optimized for the purpose of real time search over the web. Microsoft had made a move in which it has bundled IE8 with search capabilities and web slices from OneRiot.OneRiot is a realtime search engine that indexes the social web – the news, blogs and videos that people are sharing and looking at right now.Besides this, Microsoft has also plans of offering a real-time add-ons package that includes the same OneRiot products.
According to the IE Addons Gallery page:
This special version of Internet Explorer 8 comes loaded with fresh OneRiot goodies, putting the real-time web directly into your browser.
OneRiot’s Tobias Peggs said in an email:
This new bundled browser that Microsoft is pushing is a big new step for us… It’s a vote of confidence in the way we index the web, the results we return, and our ability to scale- all good indicators.
All those who have IE8 already installed on their machines and want to benefit from OneRiot’s components, Microsoft offers three real time add-ons packages. These add ons include:
- OneRiot’s real time search results
- Top videos
- Top shared items of the day
Users will observe the OneRiot search bar in the top right of the browser. Besides this user will also have the option to opting OneRiot as the default search engine.
