Useful Keyboard Shortcuts for Internet Explorer 9
Open a New Tab – A combination of Ctrl + T will open a new Tab and will save you from the time taking effort of moving your mouse pointer and clicking on the small square located next to the address bar.
Close a Tab – Want to close a no longer useful Tab or an extra and unneeded tab? Do that by going for the Ctrl + W combination.
Reopen a closed Tab – There might be occasions where you accidentally close a tab. You can get back that tab easily by pressing Ctrl + Shift + T.

Navigate Between Tabs – Want to switch to the Tab next/right to the one you are currently one? You can easily do that by pressing Ctrl + Tab keys. Pressing the Ctrl + Shift + Tab keys will move you one step back/left to the tab you are currently on.
Highlight the text in the Address bar – Ctrl + L lets you select the URL/search query in the address bar which will come useful when you want to search / visit a new web page from your current tab.
These keyboard shortcuts represent the actions that we perform the most while we surf the internet. Memorizing and using these shortcut keys will save you from having to use your mouse and locate the required option in the Toolbar.
