Just now, we told you guys about the surprise filled yet sensational development of iOS 4.1 GM build being available for download for non-developer iPhone and iPod Touch units? As promised, we are here with the essential instructions to get the iOS 4.1 up and running on your iDevice. Instructions listed after the jump.

Note: Try it at your own risk. You might want to take back up of your iPhone/iPod Touch before upgrading your firmware.

Install iOS 4.1 GM build

Step 1: Download iTunes from here and install it.

Step 2: Download iOS 4.1 (GM) from here.

Step 3: Launch iTunes and plug in your iPhone/iPod Touch.

Step 4: Select your iPhone/iPod Touch listed on the left.

Step 5: Hold down the Shift button (for Windows)/ Option Key (for Mac) and click the Restore button.

Step 6: When prompted, point the IPSW file you just downloaded in Step 2.
