How to install iOS 4.2
So you have heard about the news of iOS 4.2 update finally going live and can’t wait to get your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch running the latest firmware and get sensational features like AirPlay, AirPrint and more. We don’t want to become a hurdle in your goal. So we will keep it simple – guide to install iOS 4.2 on your iDevice follows after the jump.

iOS 4.2 supports the following iDevices:
- iPad
- iPhone 4
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 3G
- iPod Touch 4G
- iPod Touch 3G
- iPod Touch 2G
Steps to install iOS 4.2
Bear in mind that by upgrading you will lose your jailbreak and unlock. So proceed at your own risk.
Step 1 – Install iTunes 10.1 (download link), if you haven’t done so already.
Step 2 – Connect your iDevice via USB cable and launch iTunes, if it doesn’t start automatically.
Step 3 - Select your Device.
Step 4 - Make a backup of your iDevice settings.
Step 5 – Click the Check for Update button.
Step 6 - Click Download and Install. Wait for the installation/update to finish and then unplug your iDevice.
