iOS 4.1 jailbreak exploit uncovered
What’s better than the news of iOS 4.1 being made available for your upgrading pleasure? The news of the iOS 4.1 being jailbreakable is the answer that I can think of. And this is exactly the news which we have for sharing with you in this post. pod2g an iPhone hacker who is the member of Chronic Dev Team has found an exploit for jailbreaking iOS 4.1 for all compatible iDevices.
I know I know, perfect timing. A similar thought voiced by MuscleNerd as well:
Crazy timing that @pod2g got latest exploit just as 4.1 went public (lots of work left…keep away from 4.1 for now!
It turns out that this exploit is a result of a joint effort from p0sixninja and pod2g :
congrats to @pod2g for the latest exploit and also @p0sixninja who have been trying for months.
Thanks to Taimur Asad of Redmond Pie we now know the technical side of things and its the kind of thing you will be happy to hear. The exploit found by pod2g is low-level bootrom exploit which makes Apple’s task of patching the exploit all the more difficult as a simple firmware update won’t do the trick. A hardware revision will be the way out here for the Cupertinos.
