One would expect rumor mill to go all crazy about iPhone 4S and iOS 5, due to Apple’s less than a week away WWDC event. But as it appears, this is not the case as Digitimes reports that Apple has started certifying component makers for the iPad 3 and will launch the iPad 2 successor next year.

Colbert iPad 2

Radiant Opto-Electronics which will be providing LED backlight units for iPad 3 has already received certification from the Cupertinos. Panel provider is yet to be certified. Industry sources have revealed that Apple isn’t certifying Samsung for its AMOLED panels, as some thought, and will be using the same 9.7 inch LCD screen. Do you want Apple to increase the screen size for its next gen iPad or is 9.7 inch enough for you? Please share your thoughts in the comment box.
