Boy these iPhone 5 issues just keep popping up. Hot on the heels of a report of iPhone 5 suffering from a light leakage issue, we now see from a growing thread at Apple’s official discussion thread that the iPhone 4S successor is finding it really hard to keep up to the promised battery life of 10 hours.

I am surprised or should I say shocked to see the following comments:

  • I am having the same issue at a drain rate of about 10-15% per hour of stand by.
  • 100% charge this morning and was down to 13% by noon.
  • Today my phone was at 93%. I took a call that lasted 36 minutes and my battery dropped to 48%.
  • The phone was off the hook from 8:15am to about 12:10pm and I had to plug it in because I had less than 1/4 battery left.
  • 10% per 15 minutes, nothing but a few texts. No sync, no wifi, lte signal.

One thing to point out here is that some commenters said that the issue is not widespread across all the phones, so this means one of two things: bad battery or some toggling of settings is in order. One quick thing you can try is to turn off the services you don’t require.

We are compiling some proven workarounds you can try to get a better battery life. So stay tuned on our Twitter, Facebook and RSS Feed to get the fix as soon as it becomes available.
