iPhone beats Windows Mobile in US market share race for the first time
iPhone has just reached a new milestone. For the first time, iPhone has managed to gain a higher top spot than Microsoft in the U.S market share by gaining the second spot. This one will be specially enjoyed and cherished by Apple since it involves bettering their fierce Redmond based rivals. This interesting bit of information was collected via a report from none other than comScore.
Apple’s market share has been on a rise ever since February of 2009. In February it had 5.2 million users, which rose to 5.7 million in May and increased to 6.6 million in July. The upward progress continued as it had 8.9 million October followers in the October which resulted in iPhone getting the second spot.
On the other hand, Microsoft has had a mix run in which it saw its share in the mobile market rise and decline. In February it had 6.8 million consumers, which increased to 7 million in May and then sadly dropped to 6.6 million in July. However the market share for Windows Mobile based phones saw a rise in the month of October taking the market share back to 7.1 million.
RIM’s Blackberry got the top honors as it had 14.9 million users in October.
Palm has something to cheer about as well as its market share took the upward journey from 2.3 million to 2.8 million.
Android saw its market share reach 1 million. The figure may sound small, but one should bear in mind that there were very few Android devices available in the market. If you want to see the real prospects and power of Android , then check out the following link
