Palm’s webOS PDK can port iPhone games
Who wants to play iPhone games on webOS? Do I hear the whole community of Palm users? Anyhow, you can definitely get the iPhone games on your Pre or Pixi handset with some porting effort required from the developers. All this is possible due to webOS’s Plug-in Development Kit (PDK) that will be rolled out in San Francisco in the upcoming week at the Game Developers Conference.
The soon to be rolled out development kit allows developers to create graphics-centered games. But the thing that stands out the most is its ability to port games. As a matter of fact, the PDK doesn’t limit porting awesomeness to iPhone games only, you can port games written for other mobile platforms which of course includes Android.
All that is needed now is developers willing to develop mobile games and apps for Palm’s web platform. Palm announced PDK back in January and was able to tempt the big boys such as EA, Gameloft and others to develop games for their platform. Already they have done around three dozen games.
All of this begs one important question – will PDK play the fortune revival role for Palm? This is something that will become evident in the near future.
Palm, in the last week has been really active. First it rolled out webOS 1.4 which brought video recording and editing capabilities and more. Then it followed it up with a much needed update to its Facebook app.
