iPhone is a spy, records your whereabouts
Wired has reported a rather shocking and surprising development. According to the high profile technology blog, the 3G enabled iPhones and iPads have been found guilty of secretly recording your whereabouts.
The image shown above shows all the locations that the Wired reporter visited in the past one year. This shocking discovery was made by two software hackers Peter Warden and Alasdair Allen. And you know what. The iPhone/iPad recording your location isn’t the only worst thing to happen. The log of your whereabouts have been stored in an unencrypted file named consolidated.db.
It turns out that the whole process of recording locations with timestamps started in iOS 4. And no it wasn’t a mishap on part of the Apple as the database file is being restored across backups, and even device migrations. What’s your take on this? Sound off in the comments section.
