Apple facing iPod and iPhone battery shortages
Every one knows that Apple sources it gadgets and their parts from an array of Asian suppliers. This fact had many sensing the Cupertinos facing shortage crisis after the 11 March disaster hit Japan. Unfortunately, WSJ has confirmed this fear for us as it reports of Apple facing iPod battery shortages.
Some of you may know that iPod Touch uses lithium-ion batteries and this is where the problem has arised. Kureha, who owns 70 percent global share provides the crucial polymer material used in the batteries, has been forced to shut down its factory in Iwaki, Japan. Here is where it gets worst, Iwaki is the only area where company produces this vital element.
What’s worst is that the iPod Touch isn’t the only one that uses the lithium ion battery, iPhone uses it as well. So what we have is a pretty serious battery shortage issue affecting Apple. How will Apple come out of this hole? Well, I have a feeling that Steve Jobs and co will come up with something and surprise us all once again? What do you see unfolding?
