A blogger going by the name of George Hotz has posted what looks like the appropriate tool to jailbreak an iPhone 3G S. Which means that first jailbreaking application for the iPhone 3GS is now available. Have a look at the jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS.

To get started:
Tutorial has a link from purplera1n site. Make a backup of everything before running. You can Reboot, if Cydia doesn’t show up after running Freeze. If you need help email purplera1n.support@gmail.com and attach your purplera1n.log file. The purplera1n jailbreak will free your iPhone from the limitations imposed on it by AT&T and Apple.
George Hotz wrote on his blog:
That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn’t worth waiting because you might have the “last” hole in the iPhone. What last hole… this isn’t golf. I’ll find a new one next week.
The author of Purplera1n for iPhone 3GS concluded his post thanking everyone involved in the making of the jailbreak tool. Hotz said that the binary size of Purplera1n is smaller than C++ Hello World.
No 20MB thing that needs to be torrented. And no IPSW to download. This is how jailbreak should be!,
After jailbreaking, a user will be able to customize the iPhone with home-screen wallpapers and third-party ringtones.
