  • Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
  • Syncing with iTunes before trying this highly recommended.

How to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3/iPad 3.2 using Spirit

  1. Backup your iDevice SHSH using the guide posted here
  2. If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version).
  3. Launch Spirit (Download it from here). If you are using Windows 7, you may be required to launch it under compatibility mode for Windows 98. To do that right click Spirit.exe and select Properties. Move to the Compatibility Tab and select Windows 98 from the compatibility dropdown box.
  4. Connect your iPhone/iPod Touch/ iPad to the PC.
  5. Press Jailbreak button.
  6. Once completed, Spirit will notify you. Just press the Quit button.
  7. Now your iDevice will reboot with the end result being an awesome looking jailbroken iDevice with Cydia installed on it.
