Kinect hacked, plays World of Warcraft
Want a new Kinect Hack to kick off your day? One Kinect hack coming right up. Students of Institute for Creative Technologies, University of Southern California have hacked into the Kinect system and have made the motion sensing controler play nicely the very popular PC game – World of Warcraft. Don’t believe us? See the video demo after the jump.
This amazing feat was achieved thanks to a toolkit which they are calling FAAST – Flexible Action and Articulated Skeleton Toolkit. FAAST is a middleware that does the “integration of full-body control with games and VR applications”. Here’s how this amazing tech does its magic:
FAAST emulates keyboard input triggered by body posture and specific gestures. These controls can be dynamically configured for different applications and games.
This is not the first Kinect hack we have ever seen and for sure not the last. For more Kinect hacks, follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and subscribe to our RSS Feed.
