Its confirmed! Mac App Store will go live on 6th January
Apple has made it loud and clear – they intend to launch the Mac App Store on 6th January, which happens to be Thursday for the pondering minds. The Mac App Store is an attempt on behalf of Apple to make the process of discovering, purchasing, installing and updating apps easier than ever before.

The Mac App Store will be available in 90 countries at launch and will feature paid and free apps in categories like Education, Games, Graphics & Design, Lifestyle, Productivity and Utilities. Steve Jobs hopes that the Mac App Store does what the iPhone App Store did for the mobile world.
The App Store revolutionized mobile apps. We hope to do the same for PC apps with the Mac App Store by making finding and buying PC apps easy and fun. We can’t wait to get started on January 6.
Mac OS X users can get the App Store as a free download through Software Update.
