Messenger for Mac (Beta) coming in March 2010
If you were waiting for Messenger for Mac to arrive before the end of this year, then sorry to disappoint you, this isn’t going to happen, as reported by the Office for Mac Team blog. We now have a new release date – Beta version of Messenger for Mac is expected to arrive in March 2010, rather than the previously targeted deadline for 2009. This begs a question as to what is the factor that resulted in this delay.
It turns out that the team is stuck at synchronizing with the latest A/V (Audio and Video support) code running on the Windows Live servers.
Previously, there were plans of introducing the Beta version of Messenger (that will include A/V support) in the year 2009, but as it turns out, it is no longer the case.
There is some good news as well. Currently the Messenger update which will bring Audio/Video feature is in the internal testing process aka dogfood. So, if all goes well, you might end up getting the overdue Beta update in March 2010. Messenger team for Mac intends to bring the top quality experience that you deserve, so be sure to ensure and verify that you only get the top notch experience.
