Microsoft has taken a fresh attempt at microblogging and has launched a Twitter like service, called MSN Juku. MSN Juku, which is launched in China, is powered by Windows Live Messenger and borrows the popular and the highly liked social networking features from Microsoft’s chatting software. Using MSN Juku, users can post 140 character messages and do other social stuff (such as share photos and more).

MSN Juku features

The Twitter like service from Microsoft , is currently in beta and offers the following features:

  • Post 140 character messages.
  • The posted messages from various contacts appear on an update screen.
  • Share pictures, videos, and links with their friends
  • Alert contacts as to additional exciting content and websites they come across on the web
  • Messages on the update screen move from left to right.
  • Posts are stacked from top to bottom and display only first few words.
  • To view the full length message, point the mouse at a condensed message.

MSN China, which also played a part in bringing this service to life doesn’t regard this service as a microblogging one. Instead it sees it as a local innovation developed by MSN China based on Windows Live Messenger networks.

This move by Microsoft quite clearly indicate its intentions to increase its Chinese user base, who by the way, love Microsoft’s ever popular IM service.
