Microsoft sets 10th July for Silverlight 3 release
What we gathered previously from Microsoft‘s employees regarding the Silverlight was that the software giants were planning to launch Silverlight before the end of 2009. Well to some extent that is true and Silverlight is all set to be launched on 10th July. Yesterday, Microsoft officials initiated the process of sending out press invites for the launch.Currently developers have access to the Beta version of Silverlight. Silverlight comprises of features which are more than 50 in numbers. The more significant and interesting ones include:
- 3D Support
- GPU acceleration
- H.264 video support
- Out of browser capabilities
Support for Out of Browser enables developers to build applications that exhibit functionality similar to that of Adobe’s AIR plugin. Besides this expect significant and dramatic performance boost for videos as well. It is expected that we will hopefully see improvements in terms of quality as well.
