Though Microsoft Surface Tablet is one of the finest tablets in the market right now but this post features an even more interesting touch sensing technology which is slowly revolutionizing our environment without most of us even noticing it.
Imagine that you’re sitting in a coffee shop and the table top your chair in lined to is an interactive touch sensitive screen which provides a user friendly menu of viewing the menu offered by the coffee shop. You can drag your chosen food from among the menu into a separate drop down menu personalized for you. Overall it’s like a tabletop computer at hand. This is the technology named as Microsoft Surface 2.0. Marketed officially in the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2011 the technology has ever since been eyed anxiously by corporate and individual users alike.
The Microsoft Surface Technology is not just restricted to being touch sensitive Instead it is also aimed at assessing the gestures and actions of the users via cameras/pixel sense (which acts like a camera) and infrared sensors embedded within them. The technology is not only available for tabletop but the same can also be used vertically as is already being deployed commercially by large user interactive firms and corporate banks. A demonstration of how a user would be able to take advantage of this technology can be witnessed in the embedded YouTube Video exhibiting Microsoft Surface 2.0 embedded in Le Credit Lyonnais Banking Application.
Currently, each Microsoft Surface 2.0 embedded unit is priced over 10,000 USD. The technology also has the ability to scan and read the text written on any documents placed on it and use this technology to gather information and also as a means of data input.
Surface 1.0 was launched around 5 years back in the year 2008. Since then the technologies embedded within it have continued their journey towards betterment. More on Microsoft Surface’s core software technology in the upcoming posts.
The time seems not very far away when the advancements in technology would enable the introduction of such Microsoft Surface enabled units into our everyday routine places like restaurants, bars and coffee shops. This however must be noticed that with the technologies available so far the smallest size that this technology can attain is twenty four inches. So all those frenzying that your next generation tablets would be embedded with Microsoft Surface 2.0 would have to be a little patient with their aspiring future planning regarding it!
