Quick Share:
Newsstand which is an RSS reader app for iPhone has just been updated to version 2.2. This latest update brings a few interesting changes and features, such as the ability to refresh feeds category wise and more. (Full list of features mentioned below and a video embedded below)
Newsstand is an excellent RSS reader app for iPhone that enables you to view your subscribed RSS feeds in the form of a beautiful rack of newspapers. Alternatively, you can go for the classic interface to read and organize feeds.
Newsstand 2.2 new features
- Recommended Feeds: If you sync with Google Reader, you can now add feeds that Google Reader may suggest interesting for you.
- Compress Database: This new entry at the very bottom of the settings dialog allows you to optimize the internal database for better performance and lower memory consumption. It depends on how heavily you use Newsstand if and when optimization is necessary, so your mileage may vary.
- A new syncing mechanism, that allows you to fetch articles from within a category, instead of fetching every single feed
- Fewer network requests and a much faster synchronization
- Use Google Reader’s own sharing feature
- Sharing menu gets a redesign
- For Delicious, Instapaper and ReadItLater, there’s a new “Save Immediately” option that skips the dialog to enter a title etc. and just saves the article with the default title.
- Hide feeds and categories that have all read items
