Paper Tablet
The revolutions in technology are giving new name to usability and usage of computers. It has been long since Computer hardware companies have tried to bring all in one usage to the thinnest and the most flexibly handled devices. The most trendiest of hardware equipment are the ones that are the lightest and the most portable, yet usable. The latest on the note of flexibility and portability is a breakthrough that has been achieved by developers at the Kingston Queen’s University. UK based plastic logic and Intel Labs have collaborated with the Kingston Queen’s University researchers to produce a tablet as this as a paper.
A 10.7 inch e-paper touch screen is flexibly connected to a Core i5 processor which stands separately on its own. The idea behind the invention is to connect around ten paper tablets together instead of posing several apps on a single screen. The paper tabs are connected together and clicking on one task transfers its data automatically to its next in line paper tab enabling collaborative working. The paper tablets work together as if they were displays instead of being separate tabs.
The interesting product is expected to hit the consumer market within the next three to five years. The best part is that it is expected to be as low as hundred dollars in cost. Each paper tab is expected to replace tons of paper documentation enhancing the concept of usability to its maximum so far.
