Anonymous attack left PSN down for One Week
70 million gamers today are going through a feeling of sheer disappointment as their most preferred Sony Network and Qriocity services are down on 7th day. It all started at the night of Wednesday when Sony PlayStation Network was attacked by an Anonymous hacking force.
On last Wednesday Sony closed down its PlayStation Services, and updated the users through an Official Blog by saying:
We’re aware certain functions of PlayStation Network are down. We will report back here as soon as we can with more information.
Thank you for your patience.
The above statement was the very first update, and it is no doubt a vaguest update which didn’t provide much of the information on attack.
Next day, another update flashed on the same blog, and this time with a message of adding extra information on timeframe:
While we are investigating the cause of the Network outage, we wanted to alert you that it may be a full day or two before we’re able to get the service completely back up and running. Thank you very much for your patience while we work to resolve this matter. Please stay tuned to this space for more details, and we’ll update you again as soon as we can.
Yes, Sony said ‘it may take a full day or two’ to fix this problem, but it seems that their two days are not over yet, because PlayStation gamers are still not able to access the Network and everything seems same as it was on first day.
By watching the curiosity of the users, Sony once again on 22nd of April came up with an update, this time they had an information which was quite shocking and disturbing:
An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.
The above statement of 22nd April, confirmed the ‘external intrusion’ by Anonymous hackers on Sony Network. A large number of users thought that this action was performed by famous Anonymous group, who previously attacked Sony for GeoHot, and this thought lead many users to join the Facebook Page of Anonymous for questioning them about this atrocious act.
Then again on 23rd of April the same blog author Patrick Seybold (Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media) informed that:
We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.
We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.
The aforementioned description was a very useful update for both Sony makers and users as by visioning the information on adding more security for PlayStation Network made many weeping hearts go cheerful. While, a few among many PlayStation users complained about narrowing the time period, because this update was missing a leak on time expected for fixing the problem.
Last but I guess not the least, Sony composed one more update, that is the most recent from all PlayStation outage updates till now. In this update Sony PlayStation Author Patrick Seybold after looking at the situation of many angry users said:
I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.
As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.
Before the release of this last update by Sony, a large number of PlayStation users threatened Sony that they will switch to Xbox Network, if Sony Engineers are unable to restore the PlayStation Network and Qriocity Services.
Concluding:
Millions of PlayStation users today are not happy with Sony on delaying the fix to this problem of Network outage, but these users should understand that Sony for their own good is working hard in advancing the services by adding more security on the Network, which is of course a time consuming procedure.
On other hand, Sony Engineers should also recognize the situation of their users and try to act upon this issue as soon as possible.
In last, we all hope for the best.

This wasn’t done by Anonymous, for the last time, that’s all websites preach. What happened was Sony’s fault. Someone used a software known as Rebug that allowed players to download content for free.

For Once We Didn’t Do It

Sony’s Playstation Network, its online service for Playstation 3 and its Playstation Portable consoles, suffered from a major outage today; which is on going as of this writting. According to Son’ys blog, the interruption in service may last into the long weekend – for at least another “full day or two”. Sony released a statement through its EU blog, saying that the network outage may be a result of “targeted behaviour by an outside party”, brining in the possibility of cyberattacks. Adding to the confusion is the fact that the message has since been removed.
While it could be the case that other Anons have acted by themselves AnonOps wa not related to this incident and takes no responsiblity for it. A more likely explination is that Sony is taking advantage of Anonymous’ previous ill-will towards the company to distract users from the fact the outage is accutally an internal problem with the companies servers.
TL:DR
Sony is incompetent.

Anonymous should stop denying it & stop fucking hiding like cowards, They lost any respect gamers had for them when they made PSN intermittent.
If Anonymous Group want to gain the respect of gamers globally, I suggest they somehow find the Sons of bitches that hacked PSN and threaten to steal our credit details.
Anonymous Group, If you read this, I seriously hope you aid Sony or at least gamers in finding these whores so i can exact my revenge and murder them one by one.

It seems like a pretty big jump was made to get from Sony saying there was an intrusion to that means it was Anonymous. This seems like a seriously well planned out attack by someone who used the time timing of the DDoS as a way to cover their tracks.
