Randi Zuckerberg, sister of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook’s director of Marketing, has resigned from Facebook after six years in order to start her own media company, AllthingsD reports. We have a detailed report after the break.

Randi ZuckerbergAllthingsD has printed her resignation letter. She, in her letter said:

Now is the perfect time for me to move outside of Facebook to build a company focused on the exciting trends underway in the media industry.

Her new company’s name is RtoZ media, which has initials of her name. It will be a social media company/service, helping other other companies to be more socialized by using social networking services and tools available today in  this world.

Facebook confirmed her resignation is the following words:

We can confirm Randi has decided to leave Facebook to start her own company. We are grateful for her important service.

According to the sources, Randi’s three months maternity leave after her first child gave her time to reflect over her new goal.

This new media company by Randi Zuckerberg obviously won’t compete with Facebook, however it will be interesting to see how Randi’s work experience at Facebook will show through in her new service.
