T-Mobile UK is under intense pressure from the German based owner Deutsche Telekom and faces the prospect of getting a new owner for poor performance. To avoid this from happening, the UK based operators have come up with an ingenious plan – sell contract free/unlocked iPhone in UK to stop the large proportion of consumers from deserting the operator and going to O2 which holds the exclusive rights to sell the iPhone.

T-Mobile UK which is speculated to be in a do or die situation will have to invest big more than many would approve of since the ingenious plan involves getting/importing SIM free iPhones from abroad and selling it in UK. The thing that may work here for T-Mobile is that there is no law which would step T-Mobile from going ahead with the plan.

If T-Mobile goes ahead with the plan, it risks pissing off Apple as well as O2 since the consumers shift would hurt the O2 financial side of things which is something Apple wouldn’t approve of.

Remember this is yet another item from the rumor land. But one thing which goes in the favor of the rumor is that when T-Mobile UK was reached out for comments, there was no reply from the other side.
