Android ported successfully to HTC Touch Pro2

Just by the title of the post, you would have probably guess what the post is all about. More importantly, you would have guessed the genius folks behind it right? Yes, you are bang on target. XDA folks have done it again. They have managed to successfully port Android OS on the Windows Mobile powered HTC Touch Pro2. HaRET was used to boot the Google mobile OS on the Sprint’s CDMA based phone. Video has been included at the end of the post which will tell you about the degree of success that this port managed to achieve.
Video : Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 running on Nexus One

A few hours back, Opera unleashed Opera Mini 5 Beta 2 for the Android platform. The mobile version of the browser brings with it desktop like features such as tabs, bookmarks. As always, I like to see the app in action to determine how efficient it is. To cut a long story short, here is a video that shows the browser running on Nexus One. Video can be seen after the jump.
Google rolls out Gesture search for Android

Every now and then, Google keeps on reminding us and highlighting us the significance and usefulness of its Labs concept. No, its not the Gmail Labs this time. Its more bigger than that. Here we go – The search engine giants have rolled out a new Google Labs app for Android called Gesture Search. There is no rocket science behind this feature. It is essentially a feature for Android devices which lets you search via hand drawn gestures of alphabets.
AT&T replaces Google search with Yahoo on their first Android device

AT&T certainly has the knack of getting itself in the headlines be it for a right reason or a bad reason. The latest activity from the American based carrier sees them remove Google search from their first Android device, Motorola Backflip. Guess who replaced Google? Yahoo. They would have wanted to do the Cupertinos a favor by using their search engine, but since the iPhone makers don’t have one, Yahoo got the nod.
HTC to remain long committed to Windows Mobile and Android

During the recently concluded Mobile World Congress event which was held in Barcelona, HTC CEO, Peter Chou reaffirmed and reiterated HTC’s commitment to Windows Mobile. Speaking of Windows Mobile, it is worth mentioning here that the Taiwanese manufacturers have been a long time partner of Microsoft in days when most of the other mobile manufacturers weren’t willing to do so.
Android 2.1 update goes live for Droid Eris

Do you own a Droid Eris? In either case – you would be pleased to know that Verizon has started rolling out the much awaited Android 2.1 update for the sexy looking handset from HTC. To make things more interesting, the update will be bringing HTC Sense UI with it. However it appears that the update hasn’t reached a large audience. Some users confirm the arrival of update while others are still waiting get the latest Android on their mobile phone.
Adobe announces Flash player and AIR for Android

Mobile World Congress event has kicked off and as expected is nothing short of excitement. Adobe has made an announcement that is surely going to make everyone happy and excited. Adobe has officially announced Flash Player 10.1 and Adobe AIR for the Android platform. Flash 10.1 will be made available for Android in the first half of 2010.
Google Maps 4.0 unleashed, brings Google Buzz love for Symbian, Android, iPhone and Nokia S60

In our previous post of a quick tour of Google Buzz, we informed you that Google Buzz is available for mobile users as well. There is more to it. Google Maps 4.0 has been unleashed which brings Google Buzz features with it. The application is available for download and works on iPhone, Android, Nokia S60 and Windows Mobile. The Buzz features included in Google Maps 4.0 are listed after the jump.
Android 2.1 for Droid in the works, to bring multi-touch browser

Droid users would have been feeling a bit left behind ever since Nexus One was announced since it was the first Google Phone to be powered by Android 2.1 which brought with it interesting features such as live wallpapers, speech to text feature and more. But all this is going to change now. Reports are in which suggest that the next update will bring Android 2.1 for Motorola’s highly advertised phone. Motorola Droid will also be getting multi-touch browser via this update. More on the update after the jump.
