With the all the fun and excitement surrounding Microsoft’s PDC event and then Google Chrome OS, we didn’t get the time to share this important news with you. Not any more. Guess what, the free photo and image editing application called Paint.NET just got updated. Paint.NET 3.5.1 has been released and is now available for download. The first update for Paint.NET 3.5 brings small bug fixes and more Windows 7 stuff.
The most notable feature Paint.NET brings, is the addition of a taskbar progress reporting option that will show progress for long running operations thus improving user experience.
When will Microsoft respond to Google Chrome OS?

According to Neowin.net Robert Scoble has posted a message on FriendFeed, and it seems that Microsoft announcement next Monday, related to Google Chrome OS.
In the posting, Scoble notes
why did Google announce Chrome OS this week? Well, of course, Microsoft has a big announcement coming on Monday (I’m embargoed).
I think Scoble is confirming this Microsoft’s forthcoming Gazelle browser. Microsoft has been developing “Gazelle” and Gazelle is an alternative to Internet Explorer.
A post published at Neowin.net, Tom Warren wrote:
The browser acts like an operating system and is designed to address the fact that browsers like IE and Chrome have not been built by design to handle multiple processes and web applications in a secure manner.
Built by the Microsoft Research team, company officials have been hinting that they are ready to talk more about Gazelle recently.
This week, Microsoft researcher Helen Wang spoke with said
I think Gazelle marks a significant departure from all previous browsers, including Chrome and IE 8″. Wang also noted “we’re really trying to leverage the decades of operating system experience and apply that in the Web and browser setting.

Microsoft evangelist Keith Coombs posted on twitter that he was playing with some
secret Microsoft software
Microsoft hinted at its Office Web Applications back at it’s professional developers conference last year. The company plans to offer Office in a way that is similar to Google Apps/Docs.
