When the Chronic Dev Team unleashed Greenpois0n RC4, they set their sight on jailbreaking the second generation Apple TV. Based on the image shared by p0sixninja, it is safe to say that the team have done what they set out to do and have managed to jailbreak the 2nd generation Apple TV.
The primary reason that the iPhone hackers jailbroke the Apple TV using SHAtter has to do with getting apps up and running on the 2nd generation of Apple TV. An iPhone Developer who goes by the name Steven Troughton-Smith has discovered that Apple TV is indeed an iOS device and does support app installation.
Will the new Apple TV run jailbreak apps was the question that struck my mind when I read and shared the news of Apple TV getting jailbroken by SHAtter. And now I have my answer and it’s the kind of answer that every jailbreak loving person wants to hear. Yes, the new Apple TV will run jailbroken apps.
Well this was expected wasn’t it? Based on the recent update posted by the iPhone Dev Team, most of us knew that it was a matter of time before Apple TV was officially jailbroken and it has happened. MuscleNerd has managed to get root access to the 2nd Generation of Apple TV which is more like an iPad from inside.
The first time we told you about SHAtter, we said that the exploit has the capability to break all currently available iDevices. Well guess what based on an iPhone Dev blog post, it seems that SHAtter which will come via Greenpois0n may even jailbreak the Apple TV, the new one that is. In case you forgot, Apple TV is also an iOS enabled device.
