The title of the post doesn’t paint a pretty picture does it, particularly if you own a HTC Desire? Engadget reports that Telstra, the Australian carrier of HTC Desire plans on rolling out a Gingerbread update that will be free of HTC’s innovative custom UI, HTC Sense.
We have got some good news for Desire owners. In the latest update from HTC it is confirmed that the company will now serve HTC Desire users with a Gingerbread update along with HTC Sense experience.
A very sad news for all HTC Desire owners, HTC UK recently has made a very disappointing announcement on their Facebook Page that there will be no Android 2.3 update for HTC Desire.
The question of when will HTC Desire get Gingerbread has been on the top of our minds ever since Gingerbread went live in December 2010. ThreeUK has posted a tweet on their official twitter account which reveals that the carrier will roll out Android 2.3/2.4 update for Gingerbread in late April or early May.
Have we got good news for our proud HTC Desire owners or what? HTC representative who was at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, told CNET that HTC will be rolling out Gingerbread for the very popular HTC Desire, which we have referred to as the perfected version of Nexus One.
XDA Developers continue to amaze and surprise us. If you are a proud owner of HTC Desire, then you will be pleased to know that an Android hacker by the name richardtrip has managed to port the Gingerbread AOSP build to HTC Desire, and that too in working condition.
