Meego v1.1 has gone live and if you own a Nokia N900, then you are in for a treat as the v1.1 of Meego bring dual booting capabilities for your Maemo enabled handset thanks to a feature named U-boot.
One of the things that Nokia N900 users have always wanted for their powerful internet Tablet is a Google Maps application. It seems that their wish has been fulfilled. A Maemo forum member has found a way to install and get the Google Maps up and running on the Maemo 5 powered tablet. Setup instructions listed after the jump.
Attention Meego fans, v1.0 of Meego has been unleashed and is currently available as a free download for Intel based netbooks and Nokia N900. If you recall, Meego is a open source project and in essence is a combination of Intel’s Moblin and Nokia’s Maemo project.
Most of us have come to know Nokia N900 as a powerful Internet Tablet with massive porting capabilities. Here is another thing you need to know about this sensation from Nokia. The Maemo powered phone has a camera capable of face detection. A video has been included in the post which shows this feature in action.
Good news for Nokia N900 users waiting anxiously for the PR 1.2 firmware update. The firmware update v1.2 has been leaked out and is available for download. PR 1.2 made an appearance at the Chinese site triggering all the excitement among the Maemo 5 powered phone owners. Demo video and changelog listed after the jump.
The news of mobile phones being overclocked is not a new phenomena, take Android phones for example. Up till now, we have only heard the likes of Nexus One being overclocked. What’s missing here? No such development has been made for Nokia phones. Not anymore, Nokia’s handset just got overclocked. Not just any Nokia device, its the most powerful of them all, Nokia N900.
Very recently Meego was unleashed and also brought with it a native image for Nokia N900. Meego is an OS designed in collaboration by Intel and Nokia for mobile phones and tablets. Attention bloggers with Nokia handsets, WordPress for Nokia has been updated to v0.5.5. This update brings a pretty useful feature or should I say analytics like feature. Blog statistics feature is the spotlight of this build. Besides this exciting feature, image selection dialog box has been improved as well.
The firmware updates for Nokia N900 just keep coming. That’s right a third firmware update has been rolled out for the Maemo powered phone. This update takes the firmware version to v3.2010.02-8. If my reading and understanding of the firmware version number is correct, you can also refer to it as the February update for the Internet Tablet from Nokia.
What would you get if you combine Nokia’s Maemo and Intel’s Moblin platform? Meego is the answer I am looking for. It comes out as a software platform that is targeted to work on a variety of devices and gadgets which includes mobile phones, netbooks and more. This collaboration announcement was made by the two firms at the Mobile World Congress which has been off to a bright start. More details after the jump.
