According to a memo sent by Sony to its game developer and publishing partners which is obtained by Gamasutra, Sony has finally decided to bring back its PlayStation Store on 24th of May.
Just one day after PlayStation Network restoration announcement, Sony unveils the details of its ‘Welcome Back’ appreciation program for North American and European customers. The perturbed PSN users have been offered free games and other complimentary services by Sony, as an apology for what they have suffered during the PSN attack, which according to Bloomberg was launched from Amazon servers.
We recently saw breaking news on Official PlayStation Blog saying, ‘Sony has started restoring its PlayStation Network and online services back’. And in other surprising news, it has been revealed that, Amazon.com’s web services cloud-computing unit was used by hackers to attack Sony online entertainment systems.
Finally some good news for Playstation Network members across the world. Sony has made an announcement that is ought to bring a smile on your face. Yes, that’s right folks, the restoration of PSN, which went down on 20th April, has begun.
An update appeared on the official PlayStation Blog, after 4 days of no information regarding PlayStation Network outage. Read after the break, how Sony yet again failed to deliver an exact time or date over PSN restoration in this new update.
What we know about PSN so far is that the online gaming network was attacked in the latter part of April and Anonymous was held responsible by Sony. What we didn’t know so far was how many users were affected region wise and how the ill intentioned operation took place. Thanks to PS3HAX, we now have the missing pieces of the puzzle.
Bad news continue to come for the Playstation users. Sony has announced via its official PlayStation blog that the PlayStation Network services which went down in late April , won’t be restored this week as promised earlier.
We hinted it before and Sony reveals it now. In a reply to congressional sub-committee, Sony claimed that Anonymous was the intruder behind PlayStation Network attacks, further stating that they have found a file on their server with words ‘We are legion’ attached to it.
Finally some pleasant news coming from Sony, The tech giants have announced that they will be restoring some of the PSN services, which went down in the second half of April, during the course of this week. List of services that will be returned online are listed after the break.
After working hard day and night, Sony Engineers with the help of an outside security firm has collectively encountered the PlayStation Network and Qriocity systems problem. This whole process took one week and we saw results coming out gradually in a shape of updates.
