We already informed you earlier about Nokia’s launch of its Windows Phone devices in 2011 – and now it is been confirmed by Victor Saeijs, VP of Nokia Europe that the first ‘Nokia-Microsoft’ partnership devices will be rolled-out in 6 European countries this year.
Microsoft has plans of opening a coffeshop called Windows Cafe in Paris. Windows Cafe is scheduled to open on 22nd October, the very same date on which Windows 7 will be launched. I suppose now you know what’s the primary purpose of opening Windows Cafe. Yes it’s just to gather buzz for the upcoming Windows 7. However it’s interesting to know that no software will be sold in Windows Cafe.
A Microsoft spokesperson stated the vision Microsoft holds for the yet to be opened Windows Cafe:
It’ll be a temporary place for the general public to experience Windows 7, Windows phones and Windows Live services while enjoying a cup of coffee or sipping a fruit cocktail
A question arises Will this be the only Windows Cafe that Microsoft intends to open or are there many more that Microsoft has in store for us. On this matter, the spokesperson said:
It’s likely that we’ll be seeing a lot more of these types of plans from all over the world as we get closer to launch.
Here you have it. Microsoft itself has come out and revealed its scheduled date for introducing Windows Phones. Within five weeks, i.e. on 6th October, you will be getting a collection of Windows Phones from which you can choose your favorite one. Stephanie Ferguson who happens to be general manager of Business Experiences Team, in the Mobile Communications Business at Microsoft said:
On Oct. 6th, you’ll see new Windows phones designed for a variety of tastes, needs and price points – with or without keyboards, with or without touch screens, as well as your choice of GPS, accelerometer and high resolution camera. There are a lot of great options and we can’t wait to show them to you.
Also Microsoft has provided a list of partners who will be partnering with Microsoft. The partners are:
- In North America: Mobile operators AT&T, Bell Mobility, Sprint, TELUS and Verizon Wireless, and phone manufacturers HP, HTC Corp., LG Electronics, Samsung and Toshiba Corp.
- In Europe: Mobile operators Orange, Deutsche Telekom AG and Vodafone Group Plc, and phone manufacturers Acer, HTC, LG Electronics, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Toshiba
