Telenor brings SMS Translator service
What do you do if you receive an SMS in a language you don’t understand. Your answer would be I translate it into the native language I understand. What if your mobile performs the translation for you. I dont know about others but Telenor has just announced SMS Translator that does just that.

Telenor SMS Translator comes out as a service that translates phrase between supported languages. Currently Telenor SMS Translator supports 14 languages. The translation for Chinese language comes free of cost, may be because China is a very close friend of ours. The code for each language is based on the first two characters of the name of each supported language For e.g. Ar for Arabic, Ch for China.

The supported languages and their respective charges are provided below:

SMS Translator Format
Write the SMS observing the format provided below and send it to 808
Format: ‘Destination Language Code<space>Sentence to be translated’
For e.g send ‘Ar Hello’ to 808 to get the translation in Arabic
SMS Translator translates the sentence into your desired language and also gives its Roman character representation
SMS Charges
You will be charged Rs 3+tax for each SMS sent.

I’ve tried SMS Translator and I got the translation in about 10 sec. It was not perfect, but I got the idea…
