To Supercompute..
“Compute” is not an unfamiliar word for human beings. In order to compute the hardware and the software of a system need to work in collaboration with each other executing a series of tasks and thus accomplishing the required computing. The present age has dawned to supercomputing owing to the rapid advancements in Information Technology.
The present day reigning devices that compute are given the name ‘Supercomputers’ because the speed at which they compute the problems at hand is extremely fast. To date the fastest of the known supercomputers is the “Titan”. Calculating at a speed of 17.59 quadrillion calculations per second, this giant possesses the capability to consume minimal electrical power as compared to its competitors.
Generally, the secret behind the computing power of a device is actually how it can perform the operation. The faster computing devices can calculate the problems at a faster rate. These computing machines are also better at handling complex computations similar to the ones needed for world climate forecast and maintenance of satellites etcetera.
The rightful, accurate and timely computation of tasks enables their successful completion. In the modern times there is no existence of human life without the intervention of computing machines in it. Man has become increasingly dependent on computing devices to compute tasks for him and that too at enormously fast speeds. Latest inventions like iPad and Tablet PCs have bought computing power to man’s reach only a touch of a button away.
Supercomputers are not built in line with the standard PC architectures and are often a combination of a number of processors in a clustered environment facilitating quantum level calculations. IBM, however has announced that it has plans to venture into making laptop small supercomputers by incorporating ultra compact nanophotonic circuits in them.
